Shift happens and only the very flexible and agile will be able to maximize the opportunities that arise from the seeming chaos of our new world. Our entire education system is based on a rigid and linear form of teaching and learning. That way of preparing a child for life is for an out dated reality. Our schools haven’t been preparing our children for the reality we live in today and will be living in the future. We need a radical adjustment to our core values.
What is more important, giving a child a rigid backward looking religion or a creative, freethinking philosophy that’s adaptable to a rapidly changing environment?
Which is better, a clearly pre-defined hierarchal system of management or a company made up of small, tight and multi-tasking, semi-autonomous groups of like minded and focused and questioning individuals?
Which is better, the maintenance of the status quo or a constant shaking up of the usual approach to try and find a new and better way of solving a problem?
Which is better, a controlling, droning teacher speaking while the children silently listen or a sensitive, humanistic mentor who learns each child’s particular personality and teaches to them as they are not as he thinks they should be?
Which is better, teaching a child how to pass a test or how to live the rest of thier life time with curiosity and perpetual learning?
As Americans, we can never accept that the huge government that seems to rule our lives and sucks money from us at every purchase and earning, can’t be changed. If we accept what we are told without question and if we aren’t opened to seeing what is actually there then we’ll continue to be the victims of secretive, manipulating and dangerous politicians and business men. Who are the future leaders and how are they being educated? How will you handle life when shift happens?
